Meet Dr. Dixon

Ramiro A. Peña

Family Physician

Born and raised in Laredo, Tx, Dr. Peña is a graduate of Baylor University and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Upon graduation f rom medical school he did a rotating internship at Memorial Medical Center, Corpus Christi, Texas. He trained in General and Thoracic surgery at Baylor Scott & White in Temple and later practiced there and at King’s Daughters Hospital, also in Temple until 1996 when he retired. He served as a trauma surgeon in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam war and was board certified as a surgeon by the American Board of Surgery and elected a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. On his retirement from surgery he began practice as a primary care physician in Salado in 1996. He practiced alone until October 2015 when Little River Healthcare took over his practice. His office in Salado was closed in October 2018 when Little River Healthcare declared bankruptcy. Dr. Peña was ordained as a Baptist Minister before he began his medical training and served as pastor of several churches. He has continued to work in his ministerial capacity over the years, mostly performing funeral services and counseling. He has worked as a volunteer physician at the Temple Community Free Clinic since its inception in 1992 and is the longest serving physician there, working one evening a month all of those years.

Primo A. Mayhua
Internal Medicine

Dr. Primo Abel Mayhua is a board-certified Internal Medicine Specialist. He graduated with honors in 2005 from the Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University in 1991 specializing in internal medicine. Having more than 18 years of diverse experiences, especially in internal medicine, Dr. Primo Abel Mayhua affiliates with many hospitals including Central Texas Medical Center, Christus Santa Rosa Medical Center in Kyle and New Braunfels Texas, Dr. Primo Abel Mayhua also cooperates with other doctors and physicians in medical groups in central Texas.
Dr. Mayhua is a bi-lingual provider who works with multiple skilled nursing facilities, independent and assisted living communities, and group homes across Central Texas to provide quality, continued care for his patients. He is also serves as a medical director for Halcyon Home in Austin Texas. In January of 2024 Dr. Mayhua joined Jarrell Medical Clinic as Physician and Owner.

He is focused on helping underserved patients at Jarrell Medical Clinic and nursing home patients achieve and maintain consistent quality patient care in our growing community. During his free time Dr. Mayhua enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and daughter.

Primary Care

At Jarrell Medical Clinic we provide comprehensive primary healthcare services for the entire family. Our care team provides routine medical services such as; physical examinations, nurse consults, on-site lab, same day over the phone prescription refill service and minor emergency services. Our staff is available over the phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can provide you and your family with medical guidance during and after-hours.

Physical Exams

At Jarrell Medical Clinic we provide routine medical services such as; Physical Examinations, Back to School Physicals and Sports Physicals. Most of these services do not require an appointment. To learn more please contact our office.

Telemedicine

Telemedicine is available for patients that can't make it into the office.

On-Site Laboratory

At Jarrell Medical Clinic we have a full service laboratory with trained staff that can collect and send blood samples to BS&W in Temple. Results are typically available within 24 hrs. We also do in-office HgbA1c, Glucose, Urine, Pregnancy, Strep and Flu Tests. To schedule an appointment for lab collection prior to your visit with our Doctor give us a call.

Covid-19 Rapid Testing

Antigen and serology rapid testing available on-site with results in 15 minutes. Call ahead for same day appointment.

We understand pain and because we do, we offer joint injections for those that suffer joint stiffness pain. Appointment is necessary, give us a call for more information.

Accident at work? Don't want to go to the Emergency Room and get a ridiculous bill later? No worries, just give us a call and head over to our office. We have the equipment and supplies needed to repair skin tissue (anesthesia, sutures, staples, skin adhesive, antibiotics, etc).

In-Office Procedures

Ingrown nail? Lipoma? Cyst? Unwanted skin lesion? Give us a call and get it removed once and for all. Procedures typically last less than 30 minutes and cost less than what you think.

Remote Patient Monitoring

Medicare patients can qualify for a free blood pressure machine, glucometer, scale and thermometer. Physician and Nurse can track daily vital readings and reach out to patients if outside parameters.
